Hitting Reset

By Sherena Abercrumbia

Life is not always easy, some may even say life is seldom easy. Responsibilities, personal desires, interpersonal relationships, societal norms/expectations, traumas, etc. constantly play a role in our everyday thought process and behaviors. Not to mention a pandemic, injustice, and all the other stressors from outside forces that we have to wrestle with as well. It can sometimes feel overwhelming and cause us to lose sight of our mission, our motivation, and even our optimism.

We put on a smile and dress that up with a few pleasant post to our social media while we are spiraling downward inside. We often think "I just have to keep going, keep moving it will get better," or "if no one else notice, I don't have to actually acknowledge that it's happening." Well, that is not always true sis. I am here to tell you it's okay to hit the reset button.

Just like any reset it may take a minute to power down. You may have to close some apps so you can power down. So what does that mean in the real world and not just in the technology world? That look like closing out of some relationships for a while, closing out of some responsibilities for a while, and closing out of some of the self-placed expectations for a while.

And just like any reset, you may have to go through an update before you can power back on. Well, what does that mean in the real world and not just in the technology world? That mean spending time with spirit, re-evaluating what is important in life, re-evaluating your mission and the path you want to take to get there, We all heard the saying "it's more than one way to skin a cat," well, it's also more than one way to carry out your mission,

Alot of time we come up with this great plan to carry out the mission when we are young maybe in college before we fully know ourselves or before we fully know all our options. Now, years later we are wondering where did that motivation go, where did that great plan go. I am here to tell you it's okay to hit the reset button. I can go on and on about what happens during a reset but the truth is it's different for everyone.

I can tell you the first thing we have to do is give ourself permission to reset. It's okay to restart, redirect, repurpose, reflect, and realign our thoughts and behaviors. We have to let go of fear, let go of comfort, embrace uncertainty, and have faith that the reset will yield positive outcomes. I like to use times like the beginning of a new calendar year or the beginning of a new personal year (my birthday) as time of reflection and realignment, but this can also happen whenever and however many times needed.

I wanted to personal say thank you to all the day 1 supporters and all the new subscribers that have subscribed even while WOKE have been inactive. We do plan to post more frequently I don't want to give a set day because I do believe that matters of the heart should not be forced and should happen in it's own timing. With that being said, if you would like to be a featured blogger please contact us. We would love the opportunity to learn and grow from each others unique journey.
